MINI SOCCER LEAGUE.

The teams are really starting to look the part now and we can see some real improvement from some of the players.

Blue Hawks continue to lead the way with 10 wins. Luke Bennett and Dominic Slater are a very potent strike force and have been well supported by Daniel Harrison and Sunny Raj who have chipped in with some goals of their own. Jordan and Tevraj have proved to be very good defenders.

The two teams struggling after the first six matches have improved significantly and
Green Falcons are now second in the table after winning three of there last four games.
Luke Coulson has lead the way ably supported by Rory Rawstone and Chris Dunne.

The Red Eagles have also had a much better last two weeks, only losing two from six

matches and beating and drawing with the all conquering Blue Hawks. Liam Morley has played very well in goal. Michael Iwanowicz has been outstanding in defence
while Alex Knowles work rate has been impressive.
Sam Stanton has been the Reds Star man so far, a very skilful player who also scores goals.

Yellow Kestrels have had a tougher two weeks but will no doubt bounce back soon.
Matt Heather has been outstanding in every game with not only his goals but also his all round ability.
Ben Wilkins has played very well in goal and Ben Fletcher gets better every week.
Alexander Lewis has put in some very consistent performances and has added attacking flare to his strong tackling game.

The current league table is below. Remember a win is worth 3 points, with 2 points

for a draw and 1 point for a defeat.

A note on the progress of the Orange Condors.

Since their formation from the start of the latest series of games this season they have blended quickly into a potent combination of speed and skilful play which does not reflect their position in the league standings to date fairly.

Strong running and passing and a team spirit which can only be explained by the fact they all come from the same, Whitehouse Common School.

Amarysia up forward challenges defenders and can score. Jamal holds it together at the back and is currently their top scorer. Melissa is a swift winger and can give any defence problems.

Rachel is a solid player at the back and full of enthuiasm.

They will be a force to be reckoned with at the beginning of the September season. And that's just the girls!

END OF SEASON PRESENTATION

The first season of the Mini League ends on May 1st 2004

League Trophies will be presented to all players who complete the season.

The presentation will start at 11.15.

It is obviously a good photo opportunity so don't forget your camera.

MINI LEAGUE SECOND SEASON

The second season of the League will start on May 8th and will continue up to just

before the school summer holidays, finishing on July 10th.

We will not run the League through the summer but will start a third season in

September running through to early November and then take a break through the

winter months before starting again in March 2005.

We are putting more letters around the schools in an attempt to recruit extra players

for the second season and hopefully add two more teams to our league.

If anyone knows of any players who would like to join please tell them to come along

on or after May 8th.

The mini league has been very popular and I plan some improvements for the second

season. If we can add the extra teams, the competition will improve for everyone. I

also intend to put all the teams in shirts as opposed to bibs.

We may also enter our Year twos into some outside tournaments and we will soon be

looking at some of the younger players to join our Norton Lions Year 3 Sunday team

for next season.

Years 1 & 2

We will be holding some coaching sessions for Reception, Year one and Year two from Mid February 2005

here at Whitehouse Common |School school on Saturdays at 10 AM. The cost of the sessions..3

it is hoped that the response will form two new teams for Year 1&2
and as well as receiving Coaching will play a full game every saturday. when they gain skills and confidence they can move into the mini soccer league as have many boys and girls before them.
Note: what is amazing from time to time
are the players at year 2 who tackle older children
sometimes twice their size
and win the ball!
